1. How is role-playing or acting different from taking on a particular attitude during a group activity?
I think that the attitude is different because you have more freedom in acting to explore a different personality or a person.

2. What can you do to improve your contribution to group work?
I think that i can listen more to the people that are trying to express the opinion on how they think stuff should be done, even if their points are stupid. I think that i should also try to be more co-operative with the other group members.

Role-Play Questions 2

1) Some sociologists say that because most families today have so much technology, we have become so self-sufficient that we think that we donít need communities anymore. What do you think about this?
I think that this is a somewhat true statement, but i think that in todays society with the amount of technology we have we can create a different type of society. Also i think that we still have a community, it just is less reliant on others.

2) How important is concentration and focus in this kind of work? Why?
Concentration and focus are so important in this kind of activity because without them you can not maintain a certain amount of disbelief, also if you start laughing during a scene then the entire scene could be ruined.

3) How important is listening to others in this kind of work? Why?
It is so important to listen in this kind of work because you don't know who the other person is, or what they are gonna say. Also you have to listen because if you don't you will end up saying something that has nothing to do with the scene.

4) How does role play in drama help us understand ourselves as human beings on this planet?
It helps us understand ourselves as human beings because it will help us think from other people's perspectives. Also i think that it will help because we can share how we are feeling through another person. This will let out all of the built up rage inside and stop us from flipping out.

Role-Play Questions

1. What makes role-play enjoyable?
I think that one of the major things in role-play that is fun is that you can take on something, or someone that you are not. I like the idea of being able to almost step out of your own preconceived way of looking, and thinking about things, and completely change it. An example of this is i could take the role of an 80 year old man if I pleased.

2. How does adding details improve the work? What are those details?
I think that by adding details to a scene it is much easier to fully absorb the person that you are trying to creates background. Also i think that by having more details you almost relate a scene more to a idea or image that you have already seen before.

Performance 1 reflection

1) Please put the title or name of your performance and the group members at the top of your entry?
Title: Milan's Homework
Actors: Cameron Beatty, Arshia, Milan, Mackenzie

2) Briefly describe the process your group undertook in preparing for you performance. What worked? What didn't work?
Our group started off by making a plan for the performance, then we started to work on the tableaus. I think that this was a fairly successful, I think that we could have been more focused, and structured at the start, but overall i thought that it worked well.

3) Do you think that your performance is successful or not successful? Why or why not?
I thought that our performance was very succesful minus a few small errors. I think that if we had stayed still in the narration parts it would have added effect, also i think that i could have projected my voice a bit more when i was narrating.

4) What do you think could have improved about your performance?
I think that if we had been more organized with our transitions the entire thing would have flowed a bit better. Also I think that if we had a bit better costumes it would have added a bit more to the performance.

5)What do you think worked well in your performance?
I think that the way the we had narratives from a persons point of view worked well. I also thought that the amount of time that we spent in each freeze was really good because it let the audience take in what we were doing.

Tableau Questions

1. Movies use still images as a means of depicting emotions. Also they use is for when there is narration in a scene to help explain what is going on, or what a character is thinking, for example in the movie Fight Club the main character goes through parts of narration. Another example is in movies when there is an explosion, and they will pause the picture, and then do a 360º look at it.

2. Tableau can show the audience how the people on stage are feeling, i.e. if there is a person that everyone thought was dead walks in they can have people in the background making awestruck faces, which will help the audience understand how people are feeling.

3. The difference between being sculpted into a position to putting yourself into a position is that when you are being sculpted the other person is seeing you from the perspective of an audience member; he knows what you look like. Also sometimes when you are being sculpted you no longer have your limits, they are erased, and the other person takes complete control.

4. Like in my prior answer the person that is sculpting will be looking at the person from the perspective of an audience member, and also it will erase the limits for the people that being sculpted, and it will make it easier to show more emotion.
